I have a large lino floor in my kitchen and so I dont use a broom to sweep but a cloth floor sweeper. After I have been sewing and sweep my floor I always run a strong magnet over the sweeper cloth to make sure no stray pins are attached. That way I dont inadvertently leave one behind the next time I sweep. It is amazing how those little buggers can hide in the dust on the sweeper head otherwise!!
