Anna, thank you. I will check out the link, look at my pattern and we can chat, see if I am able to help at all. Once I got the idea it was very exciting to do each block as you dont know what it will turn out like.
Theres a few different methods of cutting but all seem to end up the same result.

Oh Marily, do we need to talk! Your kaleidoscope quilt is the very pattern I am going to tackle next. I found the pattern online awhile ago. Found the fabric a month ago. But so far I have been chicken to stack it and whack it!! I bet you have some tips I could benefit from. Would you mind if sometime I see you online I ask for a chat and then we could talk about it?
Here is a link to the pattern if you can call it that, that Im working with.
http://www.bobrow.net/kimberly/Quilts/Tutorial/ It has great pictures, but the supply list and cutting instructions are a bit confusing. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.
YOur quilt and pillow are gorgeous!
    Thanks,
    Anna

Thank you, Bobbi. I wasnt sure how they would go together, but having the triangle shape in both, and same fabrics I think it has worked. And only just - I was scratching for enough fabric.

    Marilyn,
I just looked at your Friendship Star in the gallery.
It is so lovely! I really like the idea of making a traditional block showing the intact properties of the print from which you made your kaliedescopes. Both the quilt and the pillow are awesome.

  • Re:Check out the gallery - 2007-07-05 19:19:04-04
I have just added my friendship star pillow to my gallery. I made mine into a full size bed pillow, and used fabrics to match my kaleidoscope quilt. I have rotated the stars in opposite directions because I like to try variations.

    Thanks Anna,
It was fun to make. I am getting the hand of the machine quilting now and have decided my quilt frame may not be used much anymore, especially for smaller projects like this.

I love your aquarium and have found the perfect fabric to try for that one. Thanks for sharihg your idea.

My granddaughter would love to curl up with this quilt too. If she sees it I may have a new project to do for her!
I too have been thinking about easing off on the big quilts for awhile. I really enjoyed making the bug jars and the pillow. It got me thinking ahead to Christmas. I think I may try to find some patterns for table runners, trivets, etc and do those for awhile now instead of huge quilt tops. At least that way I can start working on my hand quilting skills too if I want.
    Again, lovely quilt!!! YOUR GOOD!!!

Unless you joined the bookcase class at quiltingweekly you wont have access to the gallery. So I thought I would show off my finished quilt here too.
Its pretty cute, but I found it harder than normal to quilt because of all the straight edges and so many stitch in the ditch directions. But it hangs nice so thats a bonus!!!!
