Thanks Kathy! Corel is very advanced, it is atchualy for Photos. I have used it long enough that I can get around an make my templates..but the other one should be easy for new quilters or easy for new computer users.

Joyce, Thank you for the info. Because I have 3 grandsons under 3 years old including one 3 weeks old, and another grandchild expected in September I am always interested in designs suitable for them, and these look really good. I will check out those sites tomorrow. The rag book sounds a good idea too. Always good to know they sew out so well too, isnt it. I havent had too much trouble with any I've used (not many yet). But it can be an issue. I would like to do one of them a Noah quilt, and these are such good designs.

I admire your work, each block is making me say more please can't wait for the next one. I'd love to get my hands on this pattern. Love all the colors your picking, what color are you going to use to sash it together? Maybe your scraps joined together somehow. Can't wait to see the finished quilt. You have a very lucky brother.

Hello Marilyn, I did have a Noah in mind when I bought these patterns, but as I already had given him a quilt, I was going to make a rag book with the pictures in it, but when I stitched them out made them into a quilt. I will do him the rag book though. The designs came from a site I joined on the web. http://www.embroiderybillboard.com they list a whole lot of pattern sellers and have a whole heap of free patterns. I bought these though from a company that had freebies on the site, http://www.designsbyjuju.com and a lot more applique ones and some santa redwork. They are having a great sale. I got seven sets for the cost of two, $40 US for 7 sets. They are normally $20US a set. I have purchased from them twice with no problems. Joyce

Brother machines do pretty well and if it does what you want that is the main thing. I think we are okay at fitting in our sewing around our resources. For a long time I only hand quilted because my previous machine didnt handle machine quilting very well. ow with a new machine I have the choice of hand or machine quilting, so do both.Marilyn

Joyce, where are your Noah embroidery designs from? They are really nice ones.
Love the soft colours of the blocks. Is this designed with a particular Noah baby in mind or because you wanted to do it? Somebody will be very thrilled to receive this.

Ok, so it seems I have never really given my opinion on this what is your favorite machine. My new Bernina 440 QE is totally my fav. I have an Elna 3300, and the two Singer treadle machines and the Bernina 440. I have sewn more in the last six months than I did in the last two years since I got it.

There are plenty of sites online that you can print off sheets of graph paper from. I have done that, but I find its cheaper to buy it in the fall when school supplies go on sale. The packet Im working from now has a 25cent sticker on it with 50 sheets. That is way cheaper than printer paper and ink.
But if your stuck, google search free 1/4 inch graph paper.

One of our magazines gave out some free graph paper and I cut it up into A4 size and copied it, so now I have a pile of A4 graph paper. I use coloured pencils and draw up my plans then work out how many square to cut. Seems to work for me. Not very adventurous yet. Joyce Post edited by: JHPym, at: 2007/06/20 18:58

My foavorite machine is my 30 year old Bernina. I love it and have made tons of stuff on it and it has never let me down. I do go into withdrawal at the very thought of getting it serviced. My husband gave me a Singer treadle machine for Christmas. I am delighted as I have been looking for one for years. With some cleaning and oiling, it works great (it was stored in a chicken coop for who knows how long but now it has a place of honor in my home!)

Wow, that is cool I have not ever drawn out my quilting. I don't know what it will look like when I start I don't know how many blocks to make I just start and then go one square at time.
I might do more design elements if I were to use a drawing.

Here is copy of the graph I use when I design my quilt tops. This one is part of a course I was taking on machine quilting so its not really my design but it is my colors. If I dont do this then each time I get a chance to do some blocks I have to lay everything out to see where Im at. This way all I have to do is get the paper out and because I mark off each row as I finish it I can just start from there. I think it is a good trick for people who have to stop and clean up their quilting each time like I have to. I quilt on my kitchen table. Best light in the house.
    Happy quilting,
Anna ( I have my machine home so Im sewing more, computing less.)

Now that is funny! How old is your granddaughter? Mine are 11, 13 and 16 and any one of them would have said the same thing. Used to be the same with their dresses. It wasnt done until they had a hat, purse and a doll dress to match. I drew the line at purses for the dolls. The girls are cute, but not that cute.

Your quilts are very very much like I remember from my childhood. Colorful, soft, perfect little snugglers. Well done!

I have made addition to My Quilting Experiences
today in The Gallery. My daughter arrived some months ago, with a small bundle of
fabric pieces from the Curtain Shop. There you are
something for you to work on. Pattern taken from French Mag, colours different from Patt, these were what I had to work with.
Machine appliqued, beads added in centre of flowers.
Now it is looking for a home.
    Bye now Jo

Hi suzyq2 It is in one of our local magazines, Craftwise.I have changed colors and themes to my liking but used the tiny paper piecing patchwork at the bottom.
I need to get rid of all my small scraps and this is a great way to go.

I will also remember to post them all together when complete.

I am fussy about using it every so often, as I don't want it to lock up as many others I have seen. It works like a charm, gotta keep it that way! Thanks everyone for all the positive comments. I was a really fun project to work on.
The fabric I have had in my scrap bin since some of the grandkids were little. I used it to make shorts and appliqued on tee-shirts to match. So I have no idea where it came from. My best guess would be Walmart or Fabricland which is a chain fabric store in Canada.
I am trying to get the pattern together so I can post it here. Who knew it would be so hard to write a pattern that others can follow? Maybe tomorrow I will have it done and post it.

Cant wait for my machine to come back home!!!

Funny I can picture it in the front window of my parents bedroom, but i have no memory of my mother ever sewing at it. She must have sewn while we were in bed :-) I have the beautiful wooden accessory box that came with that machine.
