Joyce,
Love how yours turned outI too think the pattern is way to big. It was more like a triple dresser length than a table
But thank heavens quilters just have what it takes to change patterns to fits our needs!
Yours is very Beautiful

Joyce, that looks lovely. I didnt get to make that pattern up this Christmas. I sewed crazily (elf costumes, finishing off some things) until Thursday and then had to put my machine in for service as it is about to run out of warranty. Now I miss it soooo much and wont get it back till after Christmas - or New Year. Boohoo. Oh well it gets a rest, I get to do other things, and I will have patterns to make up later. Your runner will look very cheerful on your oh so small table. Well done.

Re:POSTCARDS
- Re:POSTCARDS - 2007-12-14 17:39:18-05
On the backside I cheated a bit and stitched it out on the machine as well. I did write on it myself though. I was going to the post office to post some Noodles off so have already posted the postcard as well, hope it gets there with the stamp as I wanted the post office stamp on it so stuck the stamp on the back and posted it without putting it in an envelope. The lady thought I was a bit Nutsy, but did it all the same. Hope it gets there, only a couple of days to Tasmania from me, so should be there before the 21st December.

- POSTCARDS - 2007-12-14 17:35:54-05
I just could not resist the thought of making a post card so dropped everything at once and set to, to make mine yesterday. I did cheat though it only took about two hours to make as I embroidered an Australian scene from a set of designs I already had. I love tanks and windmills so it is something I love, not quiet what we have now we live in town, but we did live in the country until 2000, with a view like this.

Thanks to Suzyq2 sending me a pattern I now have a table runner all for me. The last two I posted in SHow and tell, I gave one to my future daughter in law and sold the other. Good for me for selling it but, bad luck then I did not have one at all. Well I followed the pattern Suzy sent and it was lovely but a little large for my Oh! so small table, so I did it again cutting down the pattern. I love it this time, Suzy has posted a table runner the same pattern that she had downsized by using less squares accross, I cut mine smaller and made a little shorter.

Everyone has been so busy. It is fantastic work each and every one of you has done.
I have been busy too but alas, the camera to computer cable is missing, ( think maybe I left it at my daughters when we went for a visit in November) and I cant show anything off for now.
I have finished about 30 cards, teabag folding, iris folding, 3Ds and paper embroidery with beads. Also this week I finished a little wall hanging with a winter scene. It is a lovely time of year isnt it?! I just love all the glitter and sparkle.
Happy Holiday hugs everyone

Joyce,
the answer to your dilemma is if you still have the patterns make another one the same or similar and keep whichever one you like the best. don't even show the one you want to keep to the lady and she'll never know any better. this one is beautiful so anything close wil also be beautiful. Hope you have the time to do it-after all who needs sleep??

To expand on your notebook covers, I have covers like this that fit both paperback and hardcover novels. They have a little ribbon attached at the top which serves as a book mark that does not fall out. After reciving them as gifts, I later made some for gifts to others, and were very well received. Pat

And if we are making the fabric postcards, I hope that you will post a picture here before sending them. I think it would be fun to see what everyone is making.
For those of you who need help posting a picture, just ask, there are many of us here who can help out. If you use the search forum box on top, you should find an old post or two on how to do this, as there have been many explanations here already.
It is sometimes easier to retype, but we should also learn to use what's here. (kind of like with my directions, why reinvent the wheel )
I'm off to sew!

Thank you Chris for help how to make fabric post cards.
Now we have address for Michelle, how to create cards, I think we are A for Away to get sending Post Cards.
I do still feel as in my original brain storm, that with the busy time of the year,
printed Post Cards from your area would fit into a scrap book, or collage very well with the fabric ones. Hoping for a diluge of Post Cards into Michelle's Simons mail box.
Nough said, Post Cards in what ever form, I feel acceptable.Jo

Post card directions
- Post card directions - 2007-12-12 10:44:31-05
Ok, you ask for directions to making a the fabric postcards and here they are.
First of all, as for a pattern that will be up to you to create.
To make these able to go through the mail with regular postage, you will need to be sure you follow these simple tips.
Make your cards 3 inches by 5 inches
Make sure you do not use heavy embellishments, like beads, or buttons etc. These can be heavy (more postages required) and they may come loose. (All your hard work, how sad that would be if you loose your buttons or beads before the card arrives at it's destination) So stick to flat embellishments to be sure it arrives undamaged.
You will need to make the card stiff enough to write on. This can be done a couple of ways.
If you want all fabric (front and back) then get some Timetex or other stiff stabilizer. It can be fusible or not. If not then you will need to by fusible web, to attach it to the fabric. Use muslin or white fabric for your backing. You can write on it with a fabric pen, or you can print out the message on printable fabric. Most print shop programs have a post card size in the projects sections, or in the label sections. If using the labels just look for one that is 3 x 5 inches.
The other way is to use card stock. Again you will need fusible web to attach this to the fabric. This makes writing the address easier as you can use a regular pen.
The only other tip I have is use a natural batting, it is less bulky, and you can fuse to it without it melting.
Now get out your scraps and start creating......................OOPs forgot to tell you how to put it together.
Well I found some great websites that have all the help you need. (Why reinvent the wheel right?) Besides they have some great pictures to inspire your creativity.
http://www.4ormore.co.uk/projects/postcards.htm
This one has a link to more pictures for inspiration at the bottom. http://dollmakersjourney.com/fabricpostcards.html
Heres another one http://www.dollyduo.com/Fabric%20Postcard%20Instructions.htm
This should get you started. If you still need more help e-mail me. chris@quiltingweekly.com
I realize I took a bit of a short cut here by giving you other websites to look at for directions, but with the holidays I upon us I just don't have the time to do it right. And besides the anniversary is Dec 21, I don't think I would be able to get it done by then. So I apologize in advance for taking such a short cut.Post edited by: QuiltingAndSewMuchMore, at: 2007/12/12 16:50

Sue you just keep coming up with new ideas, I will have to look out for those thingys to put embroideries in. Have not seen them here, but someone will have. I have made some ornaments for the tree out of felt, still no cards, today perhaps, I think, unless I stay here chatting.

- Re:Chrismas Decorations - 2007-12-12 00:35:41-05
Not Christmas decorations, just an idea for your market stall Jean.
I make these little shopping book covers for friends,
you can always find your shopping list in your handbag.
I buy cheap spirral A6 Note books, which can be replaced, from stationers.
Now that you are into embroidery on your machine, you
may even get orders for personal initals on the front.
After Christmas postal rush, I could send sample.
I wish you well with your stall, someting I did a few years ago, it is great fun.
LOL Jo

Here is a picture of the latest Pym production. I had a pile of try out squares, I had done when I first purchased some machine applique in the early half of the year. (I have since become an applique addict and have lots more.)
A friend has asked for a wall hanging for herself for Christmas like one I had appliqued for myself by hand. I did not have time to do by hand so came up with this one using the pieces I had already done and adding some more.
There is a bit of bling on it, I decorated the tree, the Gingerbread house has a gingerbread lady, there are real bells on the stockings and a few other bits and pieces to add to the effect.
I sort of hope the lady does not want to buy it, (can't figure out a price anyway) I would like to keep for myself. Got to make three next year the kids want one each as well.

Obviously I have turned my eye away from you girls just a little too long.. I have come back and found you scheming thingsLOL
I do get most of the posts in emails every day so I can keep an eye on things
Reading through this thread has left me feeling quite humbled! WOW, you girls really are super, just reading your comments has been a boost for me
As Chris has hinted Simon and I are flat out trying to make a living doing various things online, including creating websites for other people.. PLUS there is our fabulous five children - who start 7 weeks of school holidays on Thursday - so it isn't likely to get any quieter around here for a while
Because of these things I have been a little neglectful of my quilting friends - please forgive me..
If you need my address it is, as already mentioned written at the bottom of my emails:
.
Better go put the little boys to bed (4 and 5 years old)..
Thank you again, all of you.. At this time of giving I now feel like I have received my full!!
Love
