Quilting around the part beyond the dress will make it stand out more. How about a ruffle of red material?Post edited by: kquilts, at: 2008/08/01 19:19

Hi Deb,
Your mystery quilt sounds like a good idea, so long as you have anough to join.
Have fun making your shopping bags though.

Hi everyone
We do something like that at our quilt club....
was fun when we first started and then some of the girls got behind.......... on making blocks.
We would each have to make a block for the person who's name was drawn that mo. she would give us each a spec pattern and a piece of fabric which we would add what ever color we wanted to make the bloc.
I have one quilt made of these blocks and one that I have never received all the blocks for... a real let down.......... glad things are working out for the rest of you. Deb I do like the blocks you have gotten should make some nice shopping bags. Maybe you will get orders for them.

That's a cute panel. Looks good. Either of those methods should make the dress puff out. Let us know how it goes.

We do block of the month as well. We get the patern and sometimes background fabric, and when ou bring it back your name goes in the draw. Depending how many there are, they draw one or two lots.

When I want anything to stand out bold, I do Trapunto, you put Muslin on back, quilt around shape, cut slip in muslin stuff, close opening. Try Google Trapunto
Good luck. LOL Jo

Hi Debra,
What i did to make some of my quilt panel stand out was to use polyester batting on the back of the design and quilt round the design with invisible thread. Then i cut the batting back but you don't cut the stitches.Yes Kathy is right you can use up all your scrap batting pieces.Next you quilt the panel in the normal way and quilt again round the designs.By the way your panel looks great to me.
I hope this helps.

Cut some scrap batting the right shape and baste it in place until you get the quilting done.

Hi Deb,
Your blocks are neat. The local club I belong to do a specific block and colour each month and everyone who does that particular block hangs it on a clothes line and then they put their name in a box. At the end of our meeting one name is drawn and that lucky person wins all the blocks on the line. I won the log cabin blocks for April and came home with 32 eleven inch blocks.

I make 15 blocks of what ever pattern we are given, we pick the colors., but are told what shade each piece of the block should be. These are some of what I have gotten back 2 of them are mine, the green one. i think I am going to make grocery shopping bags, no more plastic or paper bags.

Gloria,
I am from Niagara Falls, Canada, however I did not send you any information on EQ 6. I've never experienced them and would you mind telling me what it is because I've not heard of it. Thank you.

I bought the 24 , and the 1/2 square triangle as I thought I'd get most use out of them . The 24 one can cut bias for edging too. I got the !/4 square and the 12 for the club. When you look at the setting ones they are bigger versions, 1/2 sq is 1-6 setting is 6-12 etc. I'm going to cut my Christmas noodles with it tonight, so those in the swap look out, you'll be getting some straight noodles!!
Yes Joyce it was at the Melbourne Show, I met my sister there, she came down from Swan Hill (she's at Lake Boga)for the day on Saturday with Murray Valley Quilters on the train-a 5 hour trip each way.

Joy and JPym, If I buy one straight ruler and one triangle, which size do you think would be the best size in your opinion.
