Very pretty, I have given up crochet for quilting, don't seem to have time for both. After the first of the year I will have more time than I know what to do with and may decide I need to do both, but we will see. In the mean time yours are very nice.

I guess it is called stippling, I can't really see the quilting on it. I love the way it turned out any way. I will try and get some pictures on soon. We still have not gotten the big one hung so I will have to wait until it is hanging to show it. I should have the baby quilt completed today or tomorrow.

Quilting was easy as the quilt measured only 24 square. I am not sure how I would go with a bigger quilt. On Simply Quilts just yesterday, I found out I had quilted too much in the outside border all have to be uniform distance to keep it soft. Mine is too close together in the last border making it a bit stiff. You learn something every day? At least I have now used the two new feet I had bought this year and they both work.
I loved the colours as blue is my favourite and the lilacs and purples all go with it. The cats blocks are there to find. Love it. The cats have been eyeing it off while it is still hanging on the design wall.

A photo of Suncatchers that Threads is Crocheting. Top two are decorated, others need their decoration yet. They have a heart shaped crystal in middle to catch the sun.

    Tennye,
I think what Joyce is referring to is stippling. My husband calls it madwomans quilting as its all over the place, you sort of do waves and mickey mouse ears and then go sideways and do the same etc. what do you call this?

    Joy

Re:The Charm Squares PJ sent to me???

  • Re:The Charm Squares PJ sent to me??? - 2007-11-06 07:48:15-05
DOH! I really meant free motion quilting, guess I have gone a little crazy!! with success. It did not look too bad. I have been practising free motion a lot the cats have unteen little quilts to sleep on all over the house. The sewing machine has a mat, I make my glasses cases and pot holders on the embroidery machine so have not tried it on them.
I would love the same colours in bigger squares will look out for them at the craft show. Nothing like not having to cut out the squares.
Sorry can't show you something new. Trust me to put the wrong name on something.

You caught me there Joyce, crazy quilting. Bingo I thought I can crazy patchwork, maybe I can crazy quilt,
with machine. Still a battle going on, machine has not won yet, meanwhile tis hand quilting, which these days seem to take me forever.
Well done machine quilting whatever name it is called.
Dolly will sit nicely on quilt beside you in your workroom.

    Kathy,
If you want to do continuous stitching you can sew several strips one after the other.you end up with several strips sort of chain sewed in steps. If you go slowly at the start of the chain it's not that difficult and very quick.will try and put in a drawing to explain

I love this one Joyce. I have one question though what do you mean by crazy quilting? I have heard that term reffering to a form of patchwork but never a style of quilting. I look forward to learning something new.

Re:full sized half square triangles from noodles

  • Re:full sized half square triangles from noodles - 2007-11-06 03:08:37-05
Chris, thank you for the diagram. I have done this many times, but you have to start with a bigger strip, because you lose 3/8 of an inch for the seam. My directions were so someone could make triangles that were the full size of the strip so they wouldn't have to cut down the noodles to combine squares and triangles. If you have strips that are 3/8 wider it is a lot easier. Actually I like to make them 1/2 wider and square up after they are sewn. You can't do that with the diagram I drew. It is fussy I know.

    Kathy,

What you have here is great, however if you make one slight change you can do a continuous stitching line.

    hopefully this picture will work.

Stitch on the dotted line all the way to the end then go back to the other end. cut apart on the red line. Then cut triangles apart on the solid line.

Just though you might like to know.Post edited by: QuiltingAndSewMuchMore, at: 2007/11/06 08:21
