Sue that is turning out beautifully. You have some really good fabrics for it and the pics have copied really well.

Will be good to see it when finished.

You are right Joyce. I love giving the quilts away as much as making them, and when I do them for the various charities it feels even better.
At the guild meeting Thurs they said they gave 3 quilts this summer to children who had lost a parent. The schools know to cntact the guild and they will get one. We are also making quilts for healing heros. Injured soldiers returning from afghanistan (?) and are in veteran hospitals here recovering, lots of small quilts cause they are in wheelchairs. And also for the local hospital where they wrap stillborn babies in a special quilt before giving to the parents, then the parents keep the blanket. They are all so touching it makes you want to do more. The guild I belong too gives to over 30 charities in total.

Joy, I have another good idea. Next Year I will embroider you some Christmassy things so you can make your own quilt. They did not take too long to sew out as they are only a few colours each.
I know you quilt for charity as well, feels good to give. Cheers Joyce

Joyce I love your quilt but the postage to send it to Canada would not be worth it. But I would bid on it if you won it, but make sure the postage comes out of the funds received!

I have an idea, I am going to buy a few tickets in the name of Creative Quilting, (although I am not very lucky, the most I have ever won is a Meat Tray) but you never know. Then we could Auction it for a charity of our choice. Would be exciting to think could make two lots of money. Anyhow its worth trying. Then you all have a chance at winning.
Thanks for the compliments, I really loved making it, was sad to let it go, but they were quiet excited to receive it.

Absolutely beautiful Joyce. You are so talented with that embroidery machine. I do good to run my plain old sewing machine. Hope you make a million, or at least a thousand.

Would also like tickets, but just not practical, although like Ruth I never win anything.

what a special person you are... to put so much work into a quilt to be raffled... I am sure the hospital will make a great deal of money on this raffle.

I love the way you used the noodles in combination with the embroidered squares.

Like Ruth I too would like to purchase tickets...

Sort of Eye Spy, made out of Noodles.

  • Sort of Eye Spy, made out of Noodles. - 2008-11-03 14:31:51-05
Wahoo! I have finished my raffle quilt for the hospital, well before Christmas and I even washed it, to make sure it did not shrink and I would not get it back. How embarrasment would that be?
It is very basic just 4 1/2 squares plus 12 embroidered panels with Santa's Village (designs from Ju Ju Designs) in colourwork. I really love them, from the top there is Egg Nog Hotel, Cookies and Cream, Bear Shop, Post Office, Hot Cocoa, Railway Station, Ice Cream shop, Santa's Castle, Pie Shop, Toy Shop, Elf School and the Barbers shop where Santa is having his hair cut. There are 52 different fabric each used 4 times. I hand quilted it diagonally with Pearl 6 Crochet cotton in variegated green, and in the 12 embroidered squares quilted 1/4 in from the edge of each in maroon. Look closely you will see your fabrics, I love that there were some blue ones and bound the quilt in blue fabric with little christmas trees.
