I love the idea of postcards. Chris, I am wondering if you could post the information we would need for mailing them here for us to access? I hate to ask you to do another classroom kind of thing, but I sure dont know how to start to make a postcard, but would love to participate.
Thanks,
Anna

My vote would also be for the quilted postcards. They can be fantastic - and Jo it can be applique so no piecing to fear.
Definitely need some guidelines - (thank you Chris.)if that is the decision.

Why not combine the two?
We could make a quilted postcard and send them to her. She could then have a very unique collection of postcards to show off to her family and friends.
I have made quilted postcards they are easy and fun. And yes you can mail them if you follow some simple guidelines.
If you need instructions I would be glad to help you out.

Thank you Chris, I did not wish to tread on any ones toes, for 1st Birthday Mementoe, felt we would all like to do something as a way of thank you.
You are clever I floated an idea, I think you have the solution. Quilted Cards does not mean any work for Michelle. With hunderds of members I would hope more than just a handful would like to say thank you, and take part. Have picture of Michelle seated on mound of Blocks.
Thank you for offer of help, if cards the decision, we will need your help.
As regards address, appreciate the need for privacy, we can surely sort something out, once final plans made.
Jo's Christmas wish, for good fairy to come help me over my fear of blocks.
Thank you for your input, much appreciate your young active mind.
LOL Jo

Here is the back of the postcard.
(With the addresses blurred out) I don't think she would want her address published here!

I think post cards would be great, also blocks as long as Michelle has time to put them together. What ever is decided is fine with me.

Michelle has an address at the bottom of her emails she sends us, but need to be sure it is her postal address. Maybe someone - like Chris - has mailing contact with family ???
Blocks would be nice but certainly dont want to give Michelle a headache with putting it together. If it was block it could still be something depicting our area - - like here, being on the island, a water/boats scene, or pieced - like pieced boats. That would solve the problem of people only being comfortable with certain styles.
Postcards would be good and could be put into a scrapbook or something to preserve.
Maybe should give a chance for any other ideas for a couple of days and then if everyone gives their vote on what to do. After that we can decide on details.

Really my idea was post cards, had not thought out the pros cons of address etc. Just floating an idea.
I seem to remember there was talk earlier in the year of Friendship Blocks being exchanged. Maybe plans in the making that they would be for 1st Birthday, only guessing.
Sorry Ladies I am not offering to undertake size colour of Blocks etc, as many of you know I get into a tisswas with blocks, so will leave it to a block expert.LOL Jo

As a thank you to Michelle Simon for all their work
creating this very succeful Club. Bringing so many new friends into our lives.
Just an idea I had, we could all send a Post Card of the area where we live. The whole family would enjoy the excitment of cards coming from all around the world. I know this would be a very small thank you for all their ideas.
We could all send 1 block, this would mean extra work for Michelle in her busy life, putting them altogether.
Feel sure you will all come up with more suggestions,
for the 1st Birthday.LOL Jo

Ladies Marilyn was gob smacked or as we say like a stuned mullet. She sat there it didn't register that the number was hers. They didn't put names on the entrys just numbers, so no one knew who had done them. Well done.

Oh I know Joyce. I have the little desk one which I bought at Spotlight at 60 percent off when the local store wanted to clear them. That was a great bargain. and to now have the big one with magnifier for my weary eyes is fantastic.

Congratulations. Your wall hanging is beautiful and I'm so glad every agreed. Is there a picture of all the quilts submitted?
I understand the ott lights are really great, but very expensive, so what a wonderful prize. You can use it on your next project.
Again, well done, and enjoy. Pat

Well, noone was more gobsmacked than me when I won first prize in the challenge.(Just ask Jean how stunned I was.) I now own an Ott-Lite floor lamp with magnifier attached. And I am still shaking my head in disbelief.
Thank you all for your lovely comments. I like what I did but to win was so unexpected.

Hi Taisal,
I've been trying to post into the Gallery for over 5 months now without success. I've tried all the hints given and none of them work. I've followed all of Simon's suggestions to a TEE and they don't work. Everytime I get to the upload feature I get booted out of the CQ gallery completely.
So goodluck,

Our guild in Mississauga also provides place mats for the meals on wheels program. They ask if we can have Xmas on one side and something else on the reverse so they can be used year round.

The place mats are so very cute I love them I can tell you from personal experience my grandparents used to receive meals on wheels and they were always so appreciative of the nice gifts that someone thought to provide. We were always there for my grandparents but I know there are others who have no one. Such a sweet and loving gesture.

Well, share I like them all but the first one and the pansies are my favorites. I have not convinced myself to do a large applique project yet. I am also glad to know I am not the only one who can't for the life of me figure out the gallery. I have gone through the video I have read the instructions too and it eludes me. I am not a computer dummy either so I don't know. Anyway thanks for sharing your quilts.

Helena, my quilting group in Merritt, BC also donates placemats to meals-on-wheels. I got mine finished and sent off last week. It feels good to do something that Im sure will put a bit of holiday cheer in someone elses life. If I ever get my camera to connect to the computer again I will send some pictures through.
This last week I have been busy making Christmas cards. I recently discovered prick-and-stitch cards. Im officially hooked!!
Hugs from another chilly Canadian
