Post card directions

Ok, you ask for directions to making a the fabric postcards and here they are.

First of all, as for a pattern that will be up to you to create.

To make these able to go through the mail with regular postage, you will need to be sure you follow these simple tips.

Make your cards 3 inches by 5 inches

Make sure you do not use heavy embellishments, like beads, or buttons etc. These can be heavy (more postages required) and they may come loose. (All your hard work, how sad that would be if you loose your buttons or beads before the card arrives at it's destination) So stick to flat embellishments to be sure it arrives undamaged.

You will need to make the card stiff enough to write on. This can be done a couple of ways.

If you want all fabric (front and back) then get some Timetex or other stiff stabilizer. It can be fusible or not. If not then you will need to by fusible web, to attach it to the fabric. Use muslin or white fabric for your backing. You can write on it with a fabric pen, or you can print out the message on printable fabric. Most print shop programs have a post card size in the projects sections, or in the label sections. If using the labels just look for one that is 3 x 5 inches.

The other way is to use card stock. Again you will need fusible web to attach this to the fabric. This makes writing the address easier as you can use a regular pen.

The only other tip I have is use a natural batting, it is less bulky, and you can fuse to it without it melting.

Now get out your scraps and start creating......................OOPs forgot to tell you how to put it together.

Well I found some great websites that have all the help you need. (Why reinvent the wheel right?) Besides they have some great pictures to inspire your creativity.

I realize I took a bit of a short cut here by giving you other websites to look at for directions, but with the holidays I upon us I just don't have the time to do it right. And besides the anniversary is Dec 21, I don't think I would be able to get it done by then. So I apologize in advance for taking such a short cut.
