My favorite part is picking the pattern and the fabrics. I don't much like all the cutting and getting the piles sorted into order.
With the bindings i saw on Simply Quilting one day how to do it and have never gone wrong, you do just need to see someone do it is person and you will get it.
Anna, I sometimes sew my binding down by machine, especially if the quilt is going to be washed heaps, and lucky for me they are. I sew the binding 2 1/4 doubled onto the back of the quilt and then fold over to the front and using matching cotton to the binding on top and matching to the back in the bobbin I sew around in no time. I have also used a fancy embroidery stitch in variagated cotton to add interest, looks like you did it on purpose and were just not being lazy.
The pillow case way is good too, put back and front facing sew around leaving a hole for turning then after turned slip stitch hole then sew straignt line around the edge about 3/8 then sort of looks like binding.
WHat would I do without Simply Quilts, even though watching it for about the third time, still learning things I must have missed before.
I also use the quilting spray when putting my quilt sandwich together. I use the table and add the ironing board to give a bit more width and spray the batting, put the back on and then the front. Works for me, but hubby and cats leave home when I start to spray. Apparently a bit toxic, I possibly get high on it, hey! quilt is half finished when getting to that stage.
I am ready to start another quilt now, Joy of Joys I can sit and pick the fabric and designs. I really love that part.
