I didn't have any problems with my old printer which was a cheap Epson model that took the pages straight through. Someone one told me that for anything thicker than 80gsm that was the best type of printer. My new printer has all the bells and whistles, and faxes scans etc, but the paper does go up and round. haven't tried it on fabric yet. Just thought I'd pass the tip on.
