It could be the same method your mom used. It was a iron on binding product that you put over the edges of the applique pieces. Then you go back over them with a zigzig stitch. It turned out looking very elegant and it was really kind of easy once you got the hang of how to lay it out so you didn't have too many intersections. I will photo it soon, as I am making some pictures for some other things I need to up load to the computer this week. I just haven't had time to do that in the last six months. Now I should have so much more time to quilt and do the things I think are important.
