As some of you know i have had a shoulder op. I need to get lots of bias strips cut before next weekend for a course. I don't want to be the snail in the bunch. Anyway I moved my cutting to the kitchen bench and to help keep my ruler stable I am sitting a can of food on the ruler on the edge of the far side of the fabric. It pivots nicely to remove the cut strip and is easily positioned back over the fabric. Again using a pivoting action. With a slight realignment and the next strip is ready to be cut. I am finding this very useful in preventing slip happening less stress on my arms , shoulder etc. and less stress on me . hope this may help someone out there.
